As we embark on this new year, we at The Group Home App are excited to engage with our community on a deeper level. One of our goals this year is to strengthen partnerships within the community, ensuring we’re not just a platform connecting behavioral health professionals, assisted living (Group Home) providers, and consumers seeking housing and community resources, but also a heartfelt supporter of the incredible work you do every day. We recognize the dedication and sacrifices you make to care for others, and we are committed to providing you with the resources and self-care tools needed to thrive.
Our mission stems from a deeply personal place. Eric Chatmon, the founder of The Group Home App, understands the toll caregiving can take. As a former mental health provider and single father, Eric faced burnout that impacted his personal life and mental health. Through therapy and the power of self-care, he rediscovered balance—and now he’s on a mission to share these tools with others.
Focusing on Self-Care: Supporting Those Who Care for Others
One of the most impactful features of The Group Home App is our self-care notification system. This feature is designed to provide daily reminders and tips to help users prioritize their mental and emotional well-being.
Why is this important? According to a 2023 report by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 76% of caregivers report experiencing significant stress, and nearly 40% face symptoms of burnout, such as fatigue, anxiety, or depression. Behavioral health professionals and caregivers are often so focused on supporting others that they neglect their own needs.
Our self-care notifications are tailored to address this issue, offering bite-sized, actionable advice such as stress management techniques, mindfulness practices, and reminders to take moments for themselves. In 2025, we plan to expand this feature by:
Adding customizable notifications to better align with each user’s schedule and preferences.
Integrating AI-powered insights to provide more personalized self-care suggestions based on user activity and feedback.
Introducing wellness check-ins, where users can reflect on their mental health and receive tailored recommendations.
By fostering a culture of self-care, we aim to improve not just individual well-being, but the overall quality of care delivered to those who depend on you.
The Care Compass: Beyond Placement, Transforming Care
The Care Compass is much more than a home placement tool—it’s a dynamic resource that bridges the gap between clients and caregivers, empowering behavioral health professionals, group home providers, and family members supporting their loved ones.
This powerful AI-driven feature supports users in a variety of ways, including:
Goal Setting: Helping clients and caregivers collaboratively set realistic, actionable goals for progress and well-being.
Symptom Recognition: Assisting caregivers in identifying early warning signs of distress or behavioral changes, enabling proactive intervention.
Resource Navigation: Guiding users to appropriate support services, such as therapy, transportation, or community programs.
Streamlining Communication: Facilitating more effective and empathetic interactions between caregivers and clients.
The AI agent within the Care Compass takes these features to the next level, providing real-time suggestions, tracking progress, and offering insights based on patterns or behaviors. By doing so, it creates a more holistic approach to care that prioritizes connection, understanding, and outcomes.
In a 2024 user survey, 84% of respondents highlighted the Care Compass as a game-changer in their day-to-day caregiving responsibilities. Its ability to enhance communication, improve client outcomes, and save time makes it an essential tool in the behavioral health field.
